EDGE Code of Conduct
1. Purpose
The EDGE Code of Conduct sets out the standards of behavior expected from all individuals engaging with the EDGE Program , including staff, consultants, partners, volunteers, youth participants, and contractors. Its purpose is to ensure a safe, respectful, inclusive, and accountable environment across all program activities, both in-person and online.2. Core Principles
All EDGE participants agree to uphold the following values:- Respect: Treat all individuals with dignity, regardless of age, gender, ability, culture, religion, or background.
- Integrity: Be honest, transparent, and accountable in all interactions.
- Equity: Promote fairness and inclusion, particularly for marginalized and vulnerable groups.
- Safety: Ensure the protection of children, youth, and vulnerable adults in all contexts.
3. Expected Behavior
- Act with professionalism and courtesy in all communications and activities.
- Respect the privacy and confidentiality of others, including safeguarding personal data.
- Use EDGE digital platforms responsibly, avoiding harmful, abusive, or discriminatory content.
- Support safe participation of youth and ensure their voices are valued.
- Report any safeguarding or misconduct concerns immediately through the EDGE reporting channels.
4. Prohibited Behavior
The following are strictly prohibited and may result in disciplinary or legal action:- Harassment, bullying, discrimination, or exploitation in any form.
- Sexual exploitation, abuse, or inappropriate relationships with minors or vulnerable adults.
- Misuse of EDGE digital platforms for fraud, hate speech, misinformation, or harmful activities.
- Unauthorized sharing of personal data or confidential program information.
- Any action that undermines the dignity, safety, or well-being of participants.
5. Safeguarding and Data Protection
- All participants must comply with the EDGE Safeguarding Policy and Data Protection Policy.
- Personal data will be handled lawfully, fairly, and securely, in line with Ethiopian Data Protection Proclamation No. 1321/2024 and global standards.
- Breaches of safeguarding or data protection requirements will be taken seriously and acted upon immediately.
6. Accountability and Reporting
- Violations of this Code will result in investigation and may lead to removal from the program, termination of contracts, or referral to legal authorities.
- Concerns can be reported confidentially via [Insert Reporting Email/Platform].
- Whistleblowers will be protected against retaliation.
